Case studie: “One gallery, many things for different people”

‘How can I help?’ has been one of the most powerful and surprising questions I have been asking since starting my role as Director of Firstsite. I have asked this of every person I have connected with over the last three years and the answers people have shared have led to some of the most surprising and unconventional projects, exhibitions and programmes I have ever had the privilege of being involved with. Most importantly, by asking this question, and taking the answers to the heart of our gallery, I am automatically welcoming all sorts of new voices, faces and ideas into a previously exclusive environment. Conversation by conversation I am gradually turning the whole place inside out and downside up to create a brand new form of creative and cultural organism.
